Five associate professors in the UC Davis College of Letters and Science are members of the university’s newest class of Chancellor’s Fellows, an honor for early career faculty who are already making outstanding contributions to their fields.

The annual Templeton Colloquium in Art History at UC Davis will journey across oceans and centuries for “The Power of Color: Polychromy and Pigments in Ancient Mediterranean And Latin American Art.”

The American Psychological Association recently selected Assistant Professor Eliza Bliss-Moreau for a 2018 Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contribution to Psychology for her research on the biological underpinnings of emotion.

Ken DeCamp (B.A., geography, ’72) had his first book published: "Wildflowers of the Trinity Alps including the Marble Mountain Wilderness," "Russian Wilderness," and "Trinity Divide."

The role of monuments to the Confederacy, and the recent movement to remove them, will be the core subject of two UC Davis events in January.

UC Davis College of Letters and Science faculty members have been awarded grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities for two projects: developing tools for analyzing radio plays, poetry readings, talking books and other sound recordings, and writing a history of six centuries of Islam.

DeWayne Quinn (B.A., political science, ’92) chose a living tribute to honor the memory of David Camboia (B.A, chemistry, ’93)—a contribution to an “Adopt an Acre” program at UC Davis' Russell Ranch sustainable research farm. Camboia, of Tracy, died in September 2015. “The Camboias are farmers from Gustine, so this gift seemed to resonate with his life and his background,” Quinn said. The two men had been friends since their days playing defense for the Aggie football team. Quinn today is head of a global information systems department at Apple Inc.
