Five Faculty Named Chancellor's Fellows

Associate Professors Called ‘Stellar’ In Every Way

Five associate professors in the UC Davis College of Letters and Science are members of the university’s newest class of Chancellor’s Fellows, an honor for early career faculty who are already making outstanding contributions to their fields.

Shota Atsumi in the Department of Chemistry, Jacob Hibel in the Department of Sociology, Alison Ledgerwood in the Department of Psychology, Beth Rose Middleton in the Department of Native American Studies and Sven-Erik Rose in the Department of German and Russian and Department of Comparative Literature are among 12 new fellows campuswide.

“I am proud to call all of them ‘Chancellor’s Fellows,” Chancellor Gary S. May said. “They are the kind of stellar educators and researchers who make UC Davis a world-renowned institution. They will likely go on to win more prestigious awards and grants in their fields, thanks to the early support of their research from this award.” 

The “Chancellor’s Fellow” title is theirs to keep for five years, and each fellow receives $25,000 to advance their research projects and other scholarly work. Funding comes from private donations to the UC Davis Annual Fund and the UC Davis Parents Fund.
