STaR Recommended Schedule for Bachelor's of Arts
Placements for your Major
- Language (Strongly Recommended) -- All students planning to pursue a Bachelor of Arts major will be required to meet the College of Letters and Science Foreign Language requirement.
- Math (Recommended) -- Some majors in the social sciences will require calculus, so it's recommended that students take the Math Readiness Assessment. It is also recommended for students considering pre-health preparation.
- Chemistry (Recommended) -- If you are interested in pre-health preparation or in the sciences, it's recommended you take the Chemistry placement.
- Computer Science (Not Required) -- There are no Bachelor of Arts majors in Letters and Science that require ECS 36A.

*Reminder: Courses with GE writing experience (WE) should not be attempted if you have not satisfied ELWR.
Non-Major Course Recommendations
- Writing Course: Entry Level Writing (based on placement) or Lower Division Composition (4 units)
- Begin language course in your first quarter -- choose course based on Language placement results, or begin with level 1 in a new language (5 units)
- GE Social Science (SS) or Science and Engineering (SE) course -- 3-5 units
