Bio

Angelique Ashby contributes her experience as an elected official to the UC Davis Government and Public Policy Alumni Group. She is the District 1 Sacramento City Councilmember, having been elected to office in 2010 and re-elected in 2014 and 2018, and is the sole female on the council. Twice in her first term, Councilwoman Ashby’s colleagues elected her vice mayor of the City of Sacramento. Immediately following, the council elected her to serve two full years as mayor pro tempore, a first for the City of Sacramento. Councilwoman Ashby is a graduate of Sacramento High School, and she obtained an undergraduate degree in sociology with an emphasis on law and society from UC Davis and a Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law.
