Course Description:

This course examines the appearance of the vampire figure in film and media as a manifestation of real social and political anxieties. Through the vampire, we will also discuss the horror genre and its iterations in "low horror" and "art horror" films via depictions of other monstrous/horror tropes, as well as the genre's evolution and the theories behind what scares us.
