Declare a Minor
To declare a minor in the College of Letters and Science, students will need the consent of the department in charge of the minor and the approval of Undergraduate Education and Advising in the College of Letters and Science.
Limitations and Requirements
Approval of a minor in the College of Letters and Science is subject to the following limitations and requirements.
- Have a 2.00 GPA (C average) in all courses completed that are required for the minor
- No more than one course applied to the satisfaction of requirements in the major program shall be accepted in satisfaction of the requirements of a minor
- No course used to satisfy the requirements of one minor shall be applied toward any other minor
- With the exception of interdisciplinary minors approved by the College Faculty Executive Committee, students may not complete a minor offered by the department or program in charge of the student's major (example: a student majoring in Applied Physics may not declare a minor in Physics)
- Students may elect only one minor in a subject area
Minor Declaration
Students with a 2.00 or greater GPA in upper division Letters and Science courses offered in satisfaction of a minor may declare that minor by submitting the Minor Declaration form in OASIS
- Step 1: Check with your intended minor program for specific requirements for your minor
- Step 2: Check with your major advisor to discuss potential overlap. If applicable, work with both the major and minor advisor to identify the specific course to be shared between each program
