Course Description:

Learn how China got to be China. This course introduces students to the main written language of dynastic China. Our sources will be key works from pre-Han and Han dynasty philosophical and historiographical traditions. The course will be conducted in English, with an emphasis on close translations and grammatical analysis. Students should have a Chinese language proficiency equivalent to CHN 112 or higher.
