Position Title
Academic Advisor
- Undergraduate Education and Advising
Shannan Schobinger joined the College of Letters and Science (L&S) in 2026. She brings over 15 years of experience supporting students and clients through advising, coaching, and student success, including more than a decade in higher education. Prior to joining L&S Undergraduate Education and Advising, Shannan partnered with students within the College of Biological Sciences at UC Davis and across institutions including Indiana University and the University of Delaware.
Shannan’s advising approach is holistic, strengths-based, and student-centered. She values creating a supportive space where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring possibilities, and navigating academic decisions, personal goals, and what comes next. As a former first-generation college student and foster youth, she understands that asking for help can sometimes feel intimidating and believes students deserve a space where they can ask questions openly, without judgment, and feel encouraged as they navigate important decisions.
Shannan earned a B.A. in Psychology and an M.S.Ed. in Counselor Education from Indiana University. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking around Northern California, birdwatching, finding a good latte, spending time with her boxer pup, Special Agent Mulder, and is mildly obsessed with all things HGTV.
