Saranjit Uppal is an Academic Advisor in the College of Letters and Science Undergraduate Education and Advising Office of the Dean since 2024. Saranjit is a UC Davis Alum and holds a B.A. in History with dual minors in English and Art History in 2020. As an undergraduate student, Saranjit was also a peer advisor for the Economics, History, and East Asian Studies department, and enjoyed helping fellow students utilize advising resources on campus and work towards their goals.
Saranjit joined the departments of Plant Pathology and Entomology & Nematology as an Advising Assistant, before returning to the Economics, History, and East Asian Studies department as an Undergraduate Academic Advisor in 2021. She supports all students across their wide range of diverse backgrounds and aims to create an equitable and respectful advising environment. She believes all students deserve to be treated with dignity and be heard, and works to uphold this philosophy across campus. As an underrepresented minority and first-generation student, Saranjit understands the challenges and difficulties experienced in higher education, and uses holistic advising to uplift students to reach their aspirations. Saranjit currently serves as a Subcommittee Chair on the Advising for Equity Administrative Advisory Committee, and advocates for diversity, equity, and inclusion practices.
During her free time, Saranjit loves to cook, travel (especially back home to England), read thriller novels, make pottery, drink several cups of tea a day, and catch up with loved ones.
