Bio

Tim McCarthy enriches the College of Letters & Science Dean’s Advisory Council with his many years of experience in the financial services industry. Mr. McCarthy has held many positions, including: chairman and CEO of Nikko Asset Management in Tokyo, Good Morning Securities in Seoul, CEO of Jardine Fleming in Hong Kong, president of Charles Schwab and Co., and president of the Fidelity Investment Advisor Group. Mr. McCarthy is an accomplished author having published two books: The Safe Investor: How to Make Your Money Grow in a Volatile Global Economy and Awaken to the Sense of Money, which have received international acclaim. Mr. McCarthy earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and international relations from UC Davis, followed by a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Business. He has been a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council since 2014.
