Geophysics is the study of the physical properties and processes within and surrounding the Earth. Many problems within the branches of earth and environmental sciences such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and global warming require solutions utilizing  geophysical techniques. By employing skills in physics, mathematics, programming, and geology to assess geohazards, conduct archaeological surveys, and monitor COlevels, students are able to succeed in a multitude of scientific disciplines.
