UC Davis alumna Mary L. Gray, an anthropologist and media scholar who investigates how labor, identity and human rights are transformed by the digital economy, has been named a 2020 MacArthur Fellow. Gray (B.A., anthropology and Native American studies, ’92) is one of 21 fellows announced Oct. 6 by the MacArthur Foundation.

José Quiñonez’s story starts in rural Mexico in 1971. Fast-forward to fall 2016: Quiñonez (B.A., Chicano/a Studies, ’94) is awarded a 2016 MacArthur Genius Grant for his innovative work in poverty alleviation.

History professor Charles “Chuck” Walker has been appointed to one of the UC system’s MacArthur Foundation Chairs. He’s been designated the holder of the MacArthur Foundation Endowed Chair in International Human Rights.
