The L&S Beyond the Classroom Award Program funds are detailed below. Please read carefully to understand which funds you may be eligible to receive before completing the application, and to learn more about the donors who funded these awards.

  • Beyond the Classroom Endowment
  • Description: The College of Letters and Science Beyond the Classroom Endowment originated as a current-use, multi-donor gift fund established during the BTC Initiative. Through the long-term vision of L&S alumnus Kevin Bacon and his wife, Kim, they directed their BTC giving to serve as a challenge to other alumni and donors to create an endowed fund to support L&S students in perpetuity.  In no short order, another L&S alumnus, Elmer F. Bartley, met the Bacon's challenge by making another gift which created the endowment. The purpose of this fund is to provide general support to the College so that it may offer its students necessary funding to participate in experiential learning opportunities and other career-supportive experiences.
