Minor only
Students enrolled in our Film Studies minor program are able to take one of the world’s most influential modern art forms and address elements of its history, theory, and culture. In conjunction, students are able to interpret and question broader aspects of filmmaking, such as modes of production (from filmmakers’ aesthetic choices to the role of the global economy); historical, national and cultural contexts; and the role of spectators and audiences. While the program emphasizes film history, criticism and theory, students also have opportunities to explore film/video production. Regardless of the specialization, film students are able to use their skills of deep analytical and cultural thought or complex technological skills to succeed in the film industry and beyond.
