Jesus De Loera

Jesús De Loera elected 2019 SIAM fellow

Professor of mathematics Jesús De Loera is one of 28 mathematicians worldwide elected to the 2019 class of fellows of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. De Loera was recognized for outstanding service to the community and exemplary research, including contributions to discrete geometry and optimization, polynomial algebra, and mathematical software. In addition to more than 80 published research papers, De Loera has co-written two graduate level textbooks: Triangulations: Structures for Algorithms and Applicationsand Algebraic and Geometric Ideas in the Theory of Discrete Optimization. His past honors include a 2003 UC Davis Chancellor's Fellow award, a 2006 UC Davis Achievement Award for Diversity and Community, a 2013 Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Mentoring Research, and the 2018 College of Letters and Science Distinguished Teaching Award.
