As a renowned scientist, Roy Shlemon brings a critical eye to the College of Letters & Science Dean’s Advisory Council. He is the principal of Roy J. Shlemon & Associates, Inc., a geological and environmental sciences consulting firm in Newport Beach. Since 1973, he has been a full-time consulting geologist and has amassed an international reputation as a scientist, a hazard assessment specialist and an expert witness to government agencies, legal firms, private developers and utility companies principally in California, but also in other parts of the nation and the world. Before his consulting practice, Mr. Shlemon held teaching and research positions at UC Davis and the Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Fresno State University, Master of Science from the University of Wyoming and a doctorate in geology from UC Berkeley. He joined the Dean’s Advisory Council in 2008.
