Minor only
Human Rights have become the language of the contemporary world, in which people are able to discuss topics pertaining to rights and resources. The Human Rights minor approaches the subject through policy, advocacy, and humanitarian action, as well as examining the subject through a historical, ethical, social-scientific and cultural lens. By examining moments of human rights abuse such as genocide, slavery, and colonialism, students are encouraged to witness how the question of human rights is being posed in countries across the world by international and local non-governmental human rights organizations. Through these examinations, students are able to recognize how human rights is a necessity and connected to various fields, even beyond political science: medical ethics, journalism, literature, and international law are all impacted.
