Arabic, Minor

Minor only

The Middle East/South Asia Studies Program offers a minor in Arabic, with instruction taught in Modern Standard Arabic that integrates listening, speaking, reading, and writing.  Beyond elementary, intermediate, and advanced-level Arabic, students are welcome to request independent studies to pursue the language at a more advanced level. The Arabic program offers students additional opportunities to learn about specific dialects. In addition to language fluency, students will learn about the culture, history, and development of the Arab world, developing skills in research, cultural nuances, and communication. As the official language of over 20 countries, learning Arabic can be a rewarding and useful part of preparation for a wide range of careers in the private, public, or nonprofit sectors. The Arab world’s economic state has grown exponentially, making knowledge of Arabic a key skill in any international business, from global trade to technological innovation.
