In June 2019, we caught up with seven soon-to-be graduates (now our newest alumni) to ask them about what they love most about UC Davis and how well their time in and out of the classroom prepared them for their next chapter. Here are their answers.
Two faculty in the UC Davis College of Letters and Science were honored Thursday for their efforts to create new global learning opportunities for students — both on campus and abroad. Rachel Jean-Baptiste, an associate professor of history, received a Chancellor’s Award for International Engagement. Margherita Heyer-Cáput, a professor of Italian, received an inaugural Excellence in Teaching in Study Abroad Award.
What’s a minor anyway? Think major, but smaller. It’s an optional set of classes (usually five to six upper-division classes, or about 18 to 24 units) in one academic area. If you complete a minor, you’ll find it listed on your transcript and diploma.
Minors are made up of upper-division classes that give you a focused, in-depth education aligning with your plans for the future.
Shengling “Wilburn” Wang, a senior majoring in communication and economics, was recently awarded a $1,000 study abroad grant from the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Wang will use the grant for a three-week UC Davis Study Abroad seminar in Pokhara, Nepal, over the winter break.
