The UC Davis College of Letters and Science is unique in our foundational research that spans a diverse set of academic disciplines. Across the arts, sciences, and humanities, our faculty’s research drives innovation by answering fundamental questions which lead to discoveries that connect and transcend the boundaries of the disciplines themselves. This synergy is what delivers excellence in research for our college.
To ensure the necessary supports are in place for this vital research, we offer support at every point in our faculty’s career and for projects at every scale, including $5,000 grants for publication assistance as well as $150,000 multi-year grants to support new interdisciplinary collaborations. We provide one-time funding for academic events and cost-sharing for externally funded research.
Letters and Science faculty can tap into this research funding to further their research and intellectual pursuits. Both individual efforts and novel group opportunities are encouraged. My goal as Dean is to provide the supportive environment for research ideas and interdisciplinary activities to thrive. The college research investments are intended to strengthen this environment for the benefit of our faculty, our students, the college, and the university.
