1965 - Sethanne Howard

Sethanne Howard (B.S., physics, '65) is the editor of the Journal of the Washington Academy of Sciences — a peer-reviewed scientific journal more than a century old. She is always soliciting papers and will also work with advanced students to publish their papers. 

1997 - London Breed

London Breed (B.A., political science, ’97) is only the second woman and the first African American to serve as San Francisco's Mayor. Her term runs until January 2020.

1976 - Tom Garrison

Tom Garrison (M.A., political science, ’76) wrote Hiking Southern Nevada, Volume One (CreateSpace, April 2018). It is his third hiking guide, and fifth book overall published since 2013. He has also written more than 100 hiking, political and humorous essays for regional newspapers since December 2010.

An award-winning professor of education at California State University, Sacramento, and Lincoln Professor emerita at Arizona State University,  Caroline S. Turner (B.A. history, ’67 and M.A., psychology, ’70) is the keynote speaker for the UC Davis School of Education’s Graduation Celebration on June 13, 2018.

Nicki Sun (B.A., communication, ’10) is a Sherman Oaks-based independent video producer, actor, on-camera host and brand ambassador. She produces and hosts an online series, Now You Know, which spotlights young Asian American and multi-ethnic talent.

Michael W. Chapman (B.A., medical sciences, ’58), chairman emeritus of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at UC Davis Medical Center, is a recipient of a 2018 UC Davis Medal, the highest honor the university bestows on individuals.
